On Friday, the watchdog group MEMRI TV shared a video of Nader Taha praising the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks during a sermon at the Islamic Society of Akron and Kent (ISAK), calling it a “miracle.”
Taha is an Imam and an associate lecturer at Kent State University in Ohio.
In a transcript provided by MEMRI, “In his December 13, 2024 Friday sermon, Kent State University professor of Mathematics and Imam of the Islamic Society of Akron and Kent in Ohio, Nader Taha, stated that Gaza had planted the ‘seed of freedom’ for the entire world.”
“He said that in the October 7, 2023 Al-Aqsa Flood, ‘we have seen miracle, after miracle, after miracle.’”
“In a previous sermon on November 10, 2023, Taha said that before October 7, the Al-Aqsa Mosque was insulted and disgraced, and it was calling out to the Muslims to liberate it and purify it from the filth it was in, a call that the brothers and sisters in Gaza answered. He continued to say that Allah had promised that the Children of Israel would be humiliated and defeated, and this is what happened to them on October 7. Imam Nader Taha is involved in local interfaith activity and in 2017 he was appointed a member of County Executive Ilene Shapiro’s advisory council of diversity and inclusion.”

On January 2, 2025, Kent State condemned Taha’s comments, calling them “antisemitic.”
“References to the October 2023 massacre are abhorrent and stand in stark contrast to our institutional commitment to peaceful dialogue, as well as our core values of kindness and respect. Now more than ever, and especially in light of the tragic attack in New Orleans, we call for understanding and dialogue as the path to avoiding violence, and destruction. The remarks were not made on a Kent State campus, nor as part of any official event or program,” the statement concluded.
According to Liberty Affair, despite Kent State’s condemnation, currently, Taha is still scheduled to teach four mathematics courses, including Pre-Algebra, Basic Algebra I, Basic Algebra II, and Modeling Algebra.
