As The Gateway Pundit reported, Scott Bessent, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Treasury Secretary, appeared before the Senate Finance Committee today for his confirmation hearing.
Bessent, a hedge fund manager, and Key Square Group founder has calmly swatted down Democrat haters when they have asked him gotcha questions and made laughably untrue remarks throughout his testimony. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) learned this the hard way earlier today.
Shortly thereafter, it was Senator Bernie Sanders’ (Socialist-VT) turn to experience Bessent’s calm confidence and intellect. The Vermont senator decided to center his questions around Biden’s disgusting remarks last night during his farewell address regarding an American oligarchy supposedly forming.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported Biden lashed out at Trump, Elon Musk, Ramaswamy, and other billionaires last night ‘warning’ America last night that the United States was headed toward an oligarchy.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” Biden whined.
Sanders brought up Biden’s asinine remarks and claimed Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Zuckerberg were too wealthy and powerful. He then tried to get Bessent to go along with his view on the matter.
Bessent responded by quickly defending the American capitalist system, which enabled these individuals to achieve greatness. This obviously did not please Sanders.
BERNIE SANDERS: “Are Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg too wealthy and powerful? Do you agree with President Biden about an oligarchy?”
SCOTT BESSENT: “Those three billionaires all made their money themselves. Mr. Musk came to the country as an immigrant. Jeff Bezos…”… pic.twitter.com/rtgwiR0aQH

But the socialist senator had one more gotcha question up his sleeve. Sanders then asked whether the wealth and influence of these few powerful people constitute an oligarchy in America, which he supposedly views as a problem.
But if Sanders was hoping to finally get Bessent to embrace Marxism and break from President Trump, he was severely mistaken.
Bessent saw through Sanders’ trick and calmly obliterated him with one brutal reminder: This month, Biden gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to two people who would very much qualify as oligarchs under his definition. One of these people was George Soros.
In other words, Biden and Sanders are just full of garbage when it comes to wealthy individuals in America.

SANDERS: What Biden said last night is we are moving toward an oligarchy…Forget how they made their money. Do you think that when so few people have so much wealth and economic and political power that that is an oligarchy that forms a society?
BESSENT: I would note that President Biden gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to two people who would qualify for his oligarchs.
