The United States Naval Academy (USNA) has announced the closure of the institution’s DEI offices to fall in line with President Donald Trump’s Executive Orders.
In January, The Gateway Pundit reported that President Trump signed executive orders to root leftist ideology out of the military and prioritize lethality.
On January 27, the president signed four executive orders focused on the military, including the “Restoring America’s Fighting Force” executive order and the “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness” executive order.
These orders direct every element of the U.S. military to “operate free from any preference based on race or sex” and root out gender insanity and made-up pronoun usage, respectively.
According to an email obtained by Fox News, the head of USNA says the school is “taking steps to close all agency Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) offices and end all DEIA-related contracts in accordance with President Trump’s executive orders.”
The message sent to staff by Vice Adm. Yvette Davids in late January began by noting that “The President has directed that the following information be forwarded to all employees.”
“We are taking steps to close all agency Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) offices and end all DEIA-related contracts in accordance with President Trump’s executive orders titled Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing and Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions,” it said.
“Concerns have been raised that some of these programs may have been modified in a way that obscures their DEIA objectives,” Davis added.
She also asked in the email that if any Naval Academy staff are “aware of a change in any contract description or personnel position description since November 5, 2024 to obscure the connection between the contract and DEIA or similar ideologies,” to report “all facts and circumstances” to the Office of Personnel Management.
USNA Staff were also ordered to remove pronouns from their email signatures and work bios.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has made it clear, under his leadership race and sex will no longer be considered in military promotions and military academy admissions in efforts to weed out DEI programs throughout the military.
A January 29, 2025, Department of Defense memo shared, “The DoD mission is to win the Nation’s wars. To do this, we must have a lethal fighting force that rewards individual initiative, excellence, and hard work based on merit. In the Executive Order of January 27, 2025 (Restoring America’s Fighting Force), the President and Commander in Chief prohibited any preference or disadvantage for an individual or a group within the Armed Forces on the basis of sex, race, or ethnicity.”
“Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEi) policies, as defined in the January 27, 2025, Executive Order, are incompatible with the values of DoD. The DoD will strive to provide merit-based, color-blind, equal opportunities to Service members but will not guarantee or strive for equal outcomes.”
“To ensure DoD focuses on its core mission of providing the military forces needed to deter war and ensure our nation’s security, the Department will ensure all decisions related to hiring, promotion, and selection of personnel for assignments are based on merit, the needs of the Department, and lastly, the individual’ s desires.”
