Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) pulled back the curtain on the corruption infesting Washington and why the establishment fears Elon Musk’s influence.
On Wednesday, Elon Musk visited Capitol Hill to collaborate with Republican lawmakers on transforming the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) spending cuts into permanent legislation.
This initiative underscores the GOP’s commitment to curbing government overreach and safeguarding taxpayer dollars.
Congressman Burchett didn’t hold back, making it clear that the swamp has plenty to hide and a vested interest in keeping Musk from upending their system of self-enrichment.
When asked about Musk’s meeting with lawmakers, Burchett teased the specifics but emphasized that what was discussed was “very encouraging” and that the real magnitude of what Musk is exposing hasn’t even scratched the surface.
Reporter:
We wanted to ask you about Elon Musk’s message in there. What did he talk to you guys about? What was the main message?Tim Burchett:
We talked about specifics of areas that I don’t want to discuss, but it’s very encouraging—the things he’s disclosing and where he’s headed with this—because they haven’t even really cracked the nut.
But why is Washington so desperate to contain Musk? Burchett had a simple answer: follow the money.
“You’ve got congressmen on both sides of the aisle. If they follow that paper trail, it’s going to come back to them,” he warned.
The pushback against Musk’s efforts is intense, Burchett admitted, but it’s coming from the usual suspects—the career politicians who have the most to lose.
“They’ve got their wife and/or girlfriend working for some agency, quasi-agency, or some business. I’ll probably get a primary for saying that, but it’s the truth, and we all know it. This town’s crooked as a dog’s leg. Somebody’s going to straighten it out. Looks like it’s going to be Elon Musk,” Burchett said.
