An event sponsored by the conservative organization The Leadership Institute (LI)uses humor to promote a discussion about Capitalism.
According to Campus Reform, “Turning Point USA at SUNY Albany is using creativity and comedy to spark discussion about free-market economics with its upcoming ‘Unionized Hot Dog Stand’ event.”
The event, which happened on Saturday, was sponsored by LI.
Students were treated to free hot dogs and partook in a demonstration about the effects of union control on small businesses.
Now that New York City has elected an avowed socialist as mayor, this lesson is as important as ever.
According to Campus Reform, “To make the lesson interactive, student organizers will ‘unionize’ their own stand by implementing mock workplace rules, hosting collective bargaining sessions, and requiring symbolic dues payments.”
The idea behind this TPUSA lesson is to show “increased labor regulations can drive up costs, reduce efficiency, and limit opportunities for workers and consumers alike.”
TPUSA has sought on numerous occasions to demonstrate to students on college campuses the fallacy of socialism and communism.
In addition to this demonstration, Turning Point distributed educational materials on fiscal responsibility.
Both TPUSA and the Leadership Institute play integral roles in promoting freedom and Western civilization on American college campuses.
Sadly, many universities do little to promote Western values and culture, and often promote the opposite, so these groups are crucial to getting the conservative message out.
Charlie Kirk taught more American students about American and Western greatness and the dangers of cultural and economic Marxism than the official professors and mainstream university staff ever have.
Charlie’s message and influence remain an inspiration to all who believe in Western ideals.
Now more than ever, with the election of radical socialists, the work of TPUSA and other pro-Western organizations is needed.
