The Gateway Pundit reported on the shooting of two National Guard members near the White House last Wednesday.
The suspect, 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, entered the country under Joe Biden in 2021.
The New York Post reports that, according to a newly released criminal affidavit, the alleged gunman shouted “Allahu Akbar” as he fired his weapon.

On Tuesday, Lakanwal was formally charged with murder and other crimes.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, was charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill, one count of murder, and one count of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Lakanwal attended the hearing at Washington D.C. Superior Court remotely from a hospital bed. He was seen lying down with eyes closed and appeared to be in pain.
Lakanwal’s defense attorney said that his client pleads not guilty to all charges.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Columbia, “A D.C Superior Court judge today found probable cause that Lakanwal committed the offenses of first-degree murder while armed, assault with intent to kill while armed, and two counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and ordered that Lakanwal be held without bond pending a preliminary hearing.”
“Lakanwal, who was injured during the shooting, remains in a local hospital where he is currently being treated and held under guard.”
“According to court documents, Lakanwal drove from his hometown in the state of Washington to Washington, D.C. On Wednesday, November 26, Lakanwal arrived at about 2:13 p.m., at 17th and I Streets, NW, near Farragut West Metro Station, and opened fire on two National Guard members without provocation. Fellow guardsmen at the scene responded immediately to engage and subdue the suspect.”
20-year-old Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, a member of the West Virginia National Guard, passed from her injuries following the horrific terrorist ambush.
The second National Guardsman, 24-year-old Air Force Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe, remains in critical condition but has begun responding to nurses.
