George Soros’ political machine has donated more than $71,000 to New York Attorney General Letitia James since 2019, according to state campaign finance records.
The donations, first reported by The New York Post, include $18,000 Soros gave James in July 2024 and $13,000 contributed by his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Soros, in May.
Records show the Soros family provided an additional $40,000 to James across earlier campaign cycles.
Roughly $31,000 of the total was directed toward her current re-election effort.
Those figures do not include political support James receives through organizations heavily financed by Soros, most notably the Working Families Party (WFP).
Since 2016, Soros’ Open Society network has transferred $23.7 million to the Working Families Party via its fundraising arm, Working Families Organization Inc.
Soros and his family members have also donated at least $865,000 directly to the party’s New York affiliate since 2018.

James’ political career is closely intertwined with the WFP. In 2003, she became the first candidate backed by the party to win elected office in New York, securing a City Council seat in Brooklyn.
Although James declined to run as the WFP candidate during her successful 2018 campaign for attorney general, she instead ran as a Democrat alongside then-Governor Andrew Cuomo.
However, she publicly accepted the party’s endorsement during her 2022 re-election campaign.
James has since become notorious for her unsuccessful lawfare campaign against Trump aimed at taking him out the 2024 presidential campaign.
That case remains active, though an appellate court last year overturned more than $500 million in previously imposed penalties.
James herself later came under investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) over allegations that she provided misleading information on a mortgage application for a property she owns in Virginia.
She was indicted on fraud charges in October and pleaded not guilty, but a judge dismissed the case after ruling that the U.S. attorney who brought it had been unlawfully appointed.
Subsequent efforts by the DOJ to re-indict James have been unsuccessful, with a Grand Jury twice refusing to indict her.

Soros has also financially supported Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
In 2021, Soros donated $1 million to Color of Change’s political action committee, which spent more than $500,000 promoting Bragg’s campaign.
Soros and his family have since contributed more than $43,000 directly to Bragg.
