This is about as patriotic as it gets!
The U.S. men’s hockey team arrived at the White House on Tuesday afternoon in absolute patriotic fashion.
As the gold medalists arrived on the White House lawn, officials at the White House greeted the team by playing the song “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd on loudspeakers.

On Tuesday morning, President Trump sent a U.S. Air Force 757 to pick up the team in Miami, FL.
Hours later, they landed at Joint Base Andrews, where the team immediately greeted troops as they got off the plane.

Shortly after their 2-1 overtime victory over Canada on Sunday, President Trump called the team and invited them to attend the State of the Union address, to which they gleefully accepted.
With over 40 Democratic lawmakers opting not to attend the State of the Union address, there should be enough room for the gold medalists.
President Trump also invited the U.S. women’s hockey team, which also captured gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, but the team has opted not to attend.
A spokesperson for the team stated, “We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal–winning U.S. Women’s Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement.”
The spokesperson added, “Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate.”
