President Donald Trump turned a routine press interaction into a laugh-out-loud moment during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday.
As the two leaders sat down for discussions amid the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, Trump couldn’t resist taking a jab at the ever-present “fake news” media pool.
In a video clip that’s already going viral on social media, Trump addressed the reporters directly, offering them lunch while slyly mocking their bias against him.
“Are you okay? Is everyone fine?” Trump began, before offering the media some lunch. “Would you like to have some food? Or do you consider that a bribe? And therefore, you cannot write honestly? Or therefore you have to write a bad story?”
Subtle chuckles could be heard in the room, but no clear response.
Trump added, “You can speak! Yes?”
After a hesitant affirmation from the reporters, Trump instructed aide Margo Martin, “Margo, take them outside. Tell the chef. Thank you, press.”
Trump added, “That should guarantee good stories. But it won’t. They’ll go out of their way to make a point.”

The meeting itself comes at a critical juncture in the nearly four-year Ukraine-Russia war.
Upon Zelenskyy’s arrival, Trump greeted him warmly outside Mar-a-Lago, calling the Ukrainian leader “very brave” and emphasizing the urgency: “Got to make a deal. Got to get it done. Too many people are dying, and I think both presidents want a deal.”

Trump also revealed earlier in the day that he had a “very productive” call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
